The new Meade StarNavigator telescope; Newtonian 114mm is much more than you have expected. It is a computerized telescope with more than 30,000 objects in its data base that will show you the universe in a way no telescope has ever done it...
This new telescope is excellent for introducing children (or adults!) to astronomy. Meade StarNavigator models are easy to operate but sophisticated, fully computer-guided GO TO telescopes. All models share the Meade lightweight, portable and reliable StarNavigator single arm robotic mount with AudioStar™ Computer Controller.
The StarNavigator 114 is a 114mm reflector with a focal length of 1000mm and focal ration of f/8.8 making it ideal for planets, the Moon, star clusters, nebulae, galaxies and the larger deep sky objects. With the included 1.25” MA9mm and MA25mm eyepieces, this telescope provides up to 110X magnification.
AudioStar™ with Astronomer Inside™
Astronomer Inside is built into the new AudioStar Handbox that is included with Meade's StarNavigator line of telescopes. The incredible Astronomer Inside does all this:
• Knows the sky so you don't have to.
• Controls the telescope to find and track any of over 30,000 celestial objects automatically.
• Takes you on a guided tour. Shows you the best objects in your sky from your location, time and date and then plays audio descriptions of those objects so you learn the details of what you are seeing. Astronomer Inside has over 500 audio files for over four hours of audio descriptions of astronomical objects including planets, stars, constellations, clusters, nebula, galaxies and more that bring astronomy to life. It's like having a professional astronomer standing next to you at the telescope. The audio files feature the voice of Sandy Wood from the very popular University of Texas Star Date astronomy radio show.
